Player Profiles
Kayla Anderson – Defender and part time keeper.
One of the veterans of the team (I think she’s qualified for Long Service Leave) Kayla was always solid at the back and never let the score distract her from the job at hand, always playing out matches with the same determination as when she started. In addition she proved a dab hand at keeping when called on to deputise for our regular keeper.
Megan Arthur – Forward
A speedy skilful forward Megan was new to the team but quickly settled in up front. Her speed made her a constant threat to any defence and over the duration of the season developed a good combination with our other attacking players, and was equal top goal scored for the team.
Emma Blacklaw – Mid-field
An accomplished mid-fielder with a booming kick as she proved with the goal she scored against Lakeside. Emma, also new to the team, fitted in easily with both the on-field play and training night socialising and became a valuable team member.
Beatrice Davis – Utility
A novice to football Beatrice was a dependable team member who despite her lack of experience could be counted on to try her hardest when ever on the field, whatever position she was playing in.
Elizabeth Edgar – Defender
Another team veteran Liz formed part of out regular defensive group. It was her dependability and steady play that allowed our defence to come together as a solid unit. Its sometimes easy to overlook “regular” players like Liz but she was always missed when unavailable for a match.
Carla Fennell – Utility
A real find this season, Carla’s speed, skill and boundless energy enabled her to play quite literally all over the field. Equally at home in defence, mid-field and attack the only disappointment for her was that she wasn’t lucky enough to get a deserved goal or two.
Jessica Hampton – Winger.
One of our specialist wingers Jessica was a constant threat to the opposition with her runs down the wing and pin point crosses back in to our forwards. Her ability to follow up the forwards and skill at set kicks made her our equal top scorer for the season.
Kate Hofman – Mid-Field
If there is an award for the nicest person on the team Kate would be the winner hands down. Another newcomer to the game Kate willingly and happily took on any task assigned to her. As the season progressed her skills developed, and she showed her best in the crunch matches.
Kahlia Lane – Keeper and frustrated striker
Our regular keeper Kahlia had another great year. Her slight build hides a fearless competitor who willingly took on opposition attackers without though for her own safety. Unfortunately, the team’s needs were greater this year so she wasn’t able to get any time in the field so her ambition to score a goal remains unfulfilled.
Hannah McCall – Mid-Field and Defender
New to the team this year Hannah was another girl who’s cheeriness and willingness to do whatever was asked made it a pleasure to work with the team. A versatile player equally at home defending or setting up play in the mid-field Hannah was another of our cheery band who made this such a great team to manage.
Chloe McCarthy – Utility
Yet another newbie. Despite her inexperience Chloe developed into a valuable utility player who could be used as a backup in most positions. Chloe could always be depended upon to get out there and give her best where ever she was asked to play – a quality a few so called professionals have yet to acquire.
Lauren McCarthy – Defender
Although a newcomer to football Lauren quickly found her place as a defender and became an integral part of the team. It was a pleasure to watch her rapid development into a skilled player, especially in the relatively difficult area of defence. I hope we see more of her in the future.
Alex Pritchard – Utility
A speedy skilful player who displayed a great deal of maturity being able to handle a variety of roles during the season. It came as a bit of a surprise to discover she was actually playing up a year. Her efforts as a forward were rewarded on the score sheet being one of our goal scorers.
Izabelle Stasionis – Forward
A tough, skilful forward, Izabelle was not one to take a backward step, as a few opposition defenders discovered. Her attacker role not withstanding it was not uncommon to see her drop back to help out the defence when things were getting a bit tough. A great team player, suitably rewarded as another of our goal scorers.
Hannah Sullivan-Quarmby – Winger
Yet another of the team’s veterans. In previous years Hannah ranged over the field in attack and mid-field, but this year she made the left wing her home. Her speed and ball skills made her a constant threat to any opposition, and her ability to mix it in the penalty box saw her added to the list of team goal scorers.
Danika Wilkinson – Mid-Field
Yet another newcomer to the team this year Danika found no problems slotting into the team primarily in the mid-field with occasional forays up into the forwards. Her experience and maturity, especially in mid-field, proved invaluable in helping our newer players learn the basics of the game.
