CLUB ORGANISATION AND MEMBERSHIP
The Thirroul Junior Football Club is set up an incorporated body. To have voting rights within the club, you are invited to apply for club membership. Complete an application form available from the Club Secretary or download it from the club web site. If accepted you will be required to pay a joining fee of $1.00 and an annual membership of $5.00. Applications for Club membership must be completed by April 3.
PARTICIPATION
Thirroul Junior Football Club has the highest participation rate of any club in our district, this we have over 420 players registered. This is partly due to our success in welcoming both boys and girls. We already have girls playing with our club and it is a strength we would like to enhance. The policy of the Illawarra Junior Soccer Association (IJSA) is that, as a non-contact sport, there is no reason why girls should not be allowed to compete with boys in all facets of the game. Indeed participation should be actively encouraged by all clubs. In 2007 we fielded 9 all girls' teams. And new to the club in 2002 was a women's team. The club is trying to encourage more girls to play. If you have a sister, friend or neighbour who might like to play, please let them know they are welcome.
REGISTRATION FEES
Registration fees for 2008 are $100.00 per player including GST. The approximate cost to keep a player on the field last season was $130.00. This figure is arrived at from:
- IJSA Capitation
- Ground rent - Wollongong City Council
- Referees Fees
- Maintenance Costs - field and equipment
- The balance is largely funded through the club canteen.
MEETINGS
The Annual General Meeting is held at the end of each calendar year, once the season has been completed. The Club holds regular general meetings to which all parents and interested persons are invited to attend, theses are held at the Thiroul Bowling and Leagues Club (our major sponsor) on dates that will be advised on this website.

PARENTAL ASSISTANCE
To ensure that your child enjoys their time with the club all parents are asked to assist as much as possible. Club Officials, Coaches and Managers have a lot to do and your assistance will help make the club’s operations run much smoother and be more enjoyable for everyone. You can assist in the following ways:
- Coaching or managing a team – see the sections on Coaches and Managers Responsibility
- Join the committee – additional helping hands are always welcome
- Staffing the Canteen when required – you will normally be notified by mail in the week before the game
- Helping set up and take down nets at home games – the first and last teams to play are responsible for this.
- Ensuring your child is on time for matches – the coach or manager will advise how long before match time you are required at the field.
- Informing Coach/manager if your child is unable to play or attend training
- Washing shirts when required
- Being prompt when picking your child up after training and matches or ensuring that arrangements have been made for their care and/or transport home.
TRAINING
Teams usually train 1 or 2 times per week depending upon the age group and the coaches availability. Training times are usually 3.30pm onwards. Older teams can train under lights. Parents will be advised of their child's training times by their team coach/manager.
UNIFORMS
The players' uniform consists of:
- Blue shorts with 3 white stripes on the left leg
- White socks with two club stripes at the top
These can only be purchased from Thirroul Junior Football Club on registration days and from the canteen during the season. Costs are set out in the Clothing Store page.
- Player's shirts are supplied by the club and kept in a kit handed to the team manager at the beginning of the season.
Shirts are ONLY to be worn during games (they are valuable club property)
- Boots are optional for Rooball players, but are required for older age groups. The club leaves a box in the clubhouse for secondhand boots and we encourage parents to fee free to take any that fit and donate old boots.
- Shin pads are compulsory for all age groups and must be worn at training as well as all games.
