Elite Skills Award Program

Thirroul Junior Football Club has a development program which we have called the "Elite Skills Award".  It was developed by John Cropper and Ross Cirson and the aim is to teach the basic skills of the game starting from an early age so that players become more skillful and thus get more enjoyment out of their soccer.  This is more than just an award as if forms a basis of the clubs philosophy, skill development being more important than winning.

The award is open to all players and consists of a skills based test with points awarded for each skill.  This award replaces the best and fairest award, it has been running for a number of years and has seen an amazing improvement in the overall skill level in the club.  We feel very strongly that this program sets us apart from a lot of other clubs in the district.

At the start of each season each coach is given a copy of the skills required to achieve this award and is encouraged to incorporate this into their training sessions.  If you would like more information please ask your coach or manager, copies of the skills required can also be obtained from your coordinator, the club coach or club committee members.
