USING GOOGLE MAPS
If you are unfamiliar with Google Maps here is a quick overview of how to use the maps integrated into the club web pages and the Google Maps site.
First however some legal stuff - the maps provided on this site are sourced from the Google Maps site and are subject to Google's Terms and Conditions. While the club makes every effort to ensure the accuracy of the information provided it cannot guarantee that the information is up to date.
Thirroul Thunder Pages
The maps on the club pages will look like the one below.

Main Components
NAVIGATION OPTIONS

Click on the arrows to more the map up, down, left or right - for example if you wanted to follow the Princes Highway to Wollongong, you would use the down arrow and occasionally the left arrow to keep the road centered in the map.
Click on the "+" and "-" boxes to zoom in or out on the map displayed.
Zooming in will provide more detail on streets, down to street numbers. However, it won't always provide more detail on parks and fields, in particular access roads and parking areas and field locations. You can try the satellite photo option for this - see Viewing Options.
Zooming out will loose street detail but provide a wider field of view, allowing ground location to be put into the context of surrounding suburbs.
VIEWING OPTIONS

There are three viewing options - to select just click on the relevant box
-
Map - The standard street map as shown in the map above.
-
Satellite - A satellite photo of the same area as the map. The names of the main streets are superimposed on the picture. The Satellite option is handy for identifying access roads, parking areas and field locations that are not shown in the Map.
-
Terrain - The standard street map superimposed on a terrain map, could be use instead of the standard map.
TARGET INFORMATION

As the name suggests, this shows the location searched for. This will be either the ground name or a nearby street address, if the ground is not recorded by Google or the default view is unsatisfactory.
The red "A" label indicates the exact location. The information panel above it shows the location and an option to get directions to the ground. Some directions are quite good others a bit strange, the club makes no guarantee as to the accuracy or efficiency of the directions provided by Google. To turn off the label either click on the "x" in the top right corner of the label itself or anywhere in the map outside the label. To bring it back click on the red "A" label.
Google Maps
All our ground location maps have an option to "Go to Google Maps" this will take you to the same map in the Google Maps web site, as shown below

The features of the maps on the Google site although a little more elaborate are basically the same as the features explained above. The only exception is a Functions Bar above the map
FUNCTIONS BAR

As the bar indicates the features available allow you to print the map Print; mail the map to a friend Send and save the link to the map Link.
