Thirroul Thunder
The Thirroul Junior Soccer Club has probably taken the most important decision in its history by deciding to apply to form Senior Men's teams to play in the Illawarra Football Associations First Division Competition. Below is an overview of this project. WhyAbout 5 years ago the club formed a senior women's team which has expanded into 2 women's teams competing in the Illawarra Women's Association. The next logical step was to do the same for our boys. We have been working on the idea of a senior men's team for about five years. A combination of events led the club to decide to apply to enter the senior men's competition. The club's aim is to provide somewhere for our players to go to once they have finished junior football. The senior teams both men's and women's will provide a stepping stone for players who want to either establish themselves in the sport or just enjoy getting out on the field. WhatAs per the requirements of the IFA we will be fielding first, second and youth grade teams. We will officially be the Thirroul Junior Football (Soccer) Club, playing as Thirroul Thunder. The team will play in the club colours, blue and white. The playing strip has been selected and is shown below, there will also be away and alternate strips.
WhereThe club is currently negotiating with the various groups that use Slacky Flat Trotting and Greyhound facilities for the right to establish a playing field in the infield opposite the main grandstand, this will be the home ground for Thirroul Thunder. WhenThe team is in the process of being formed and training commences on Tuesday 13 November, at 6:00 and each Tuesday up until Christmas. We will play in the 2008 Illawarra First Division Competition. WhoCoaches Alan Thompson - 1st Grade |
