Sunday 20 September
District league Final

For the Thunder the District League Final was the climax of the 2009 competition. The Thunder were up against University and with a win each in the regular competition the match reflection this. The first half was a very even affair with both sides creating a few chances but neither was able to capitalise. In the second half the Thunder took an early lead through a well taken free kick by Ben French. Not long after University were in further trouble when they lost a player to a second bookable offence. The loss spurred on the opposition and with 10 minutes left in regular time they scored the equaliser. The score remained 1 - 1 through to full time and extra time so the result came down to a penalty shoot out. After 8 rounds University proved the luckier winning 6 - 5.
