2010 Competition

ROUND 16
The Thunder were at home this week and there were planty of goals and good reults.
But first, there was a minutes silence before First Grade to mark the passing of George Naylor last Saturday. George was a stalwart of Illawarra football first as a referee and then as an administrator serving as President of the Illawarra Football Association for 16 years from 1978 to 1993.
On the field the Thunder were up against Shellharbour City in District League and Fernhill in First Division, with wins in First Grade and First Division.

ROUND 15
Another away round as the Thunder took on University in the District League and Picton in First Division with some good results as First Grade and First Division both won and only Youth Grade losing.

Youth Grade lost 1 - 4

ROUND 14
Away this week the Thunder shared the honours with its opponents in a low scoring round. District League were at Corrimal and First Division at Premier League club Bulli.

ROUND 13
As the number would suggest not a lucky round for the Thunder. Back at home against Balgownie in all grades we ended up with two losses and a draw.
First Grade went down 2 - 3
Youth Grade went down 2 - 6
First Division kept the flag flying with a 0 - 0 draw.

ROUND 12
Despite all teams playing away results were great across the board. In District League the Thunder were away at Shell Cove and came away with wins in both grades - First Grade won 2 - 1 and Youth Grade won 5 - 0
In First Division
the Thunder racked up yet another win this time against Corrimal 3 - 0.

First Grade - Youth Grade - First Division
ROUND 10
The rain delayed Round 10 was played out at home for District League and away for First Division. Results were mixed for District League where the opponents were Wests Illawarra, First Grade went down 0 - 2, but Youth Grade had a much needed win 4 - 1.
In First Division the Thunder had their first loss of the season going down to Bellambi 2 - 3.
ROUND 11
After the rain interruption of the previous week the the Thunder was at home this week. In the District League First and Youth Grade were up against perennial heavyweights Berkeley and came away with good results - First Grade drew 4 - 4 and Youth Grade drew 1 - 1.
In First Division the Thunder continued its unbeaten run defeating Kiama 3 - 0.
ROUND 9
The Thunder was away again this weekend. In District League it was to Wollongong PCYC to play Wollongong Olympic, unfortunately the results were not good. First Grade went down 0 - 1, while Youth Grade went down 1 - 3.
First Division continues to fly the flag for the club, this week they were away to yet another Premier League club, Dapto, coming away with a 1 - 1 draw.
ROUND 8
All the Thunder teams were back at home this week with mixed results. The District League had a cross-over round with visitors Warilla Wanders. First Grade went down 1 - 3, but Youth Grade won 3 - 0. Meanwhile First Division drew 0 - 0, with Helensburgh maintaining their unbeaten record. After 8 rounds they are equal competition leaders, third on goal difference, unbeaten and have only conceded 1 goal so far - great work guys.
ROUND 7
All the Thunder teams were away this week and the results are not too good. At Kiama First and Youth Grades both lost, First Grade went down 1 - 4 and Youth Grade went down 2 - 4.
At Wollongong University First Division were headed for another win until a late goal by Uni saw the match finish 1 - 1. Although they have finally conceded a goal the team are still undefeated.

ROUND 6
Not the best of results this week. In District League the Thunder were at home to Helensburgh and went down in both matches, First Grade 0 - 2 and Youth Grade 0 - 1. However, there was better news in Division 1, the Thunder's top of the table clash with Woonona resulted in a 0 - 0 draw. The team have now gone 6 matches undefeated, have yet to concede a goal and remain top of the table.

ROUND 5
This week all the Thunder teams played away, for mixed results.
In District League the teams were up against Shellharbour City. First Grade drew 1 - 1, while Youth Grade went down 1 - 3 (Click here for match report). Both teams however, are still 4th in their respective competitions.
In First Division Thunder were away to yet another Premier League club, Fernhill, and came away winners 1 - 0, putting them on top of the Division 1 table.
ROUND 4
Another week at home and great success for the Thunder. First Grade got some revenge on University for missing out on last year's Grand Final by defeating them 3 -1. In the Youth Grade match the Thunder came back from two goals down midway through the second half to draw 2 - 2 with University. In First Division Thunder remain undefeated accounting for another Premier League club, this time Picton, 1 - 0.

ROUND 3
All three Thunder teams were at home this week and had a very successful day. First Grade defeated Corrimal 2 - 0, Youth Grade (click on name for match report) defeated Corrimal 3 - 0 and Division 1 defeated Premier League Club Bulli 5 - 0.
ROUND 2
The Thunder's luck wasn't the best at Balgownie. First Grade lost 1 - 2, Youth Grade also went down 0 - 1, while First Division held on for a 0 - 0 draw.

Although there was plenty of support for the Thunder at Balgownie, the Thunder could only manage a single goal on the day

ROUND 1
The Thunder had the best possible start to the regular season with wins to all three teams
For First Grade all it took was an early goal (below) to win their match against Shell Cove 1 - 0

Youth Grade ran out winners 5 - 1 over Shell Cove and First Division were never seriously troubled in running out 2 - 0 winners over Corrimal.
Bert Bampton / Fraternity Club Youth Cups
Round 1 of the Bert Bampton Cup for First Grade and Fraternity Cup for Youth Grade was played on Saturday 27 March at Gibson Park, Thirroul. Youth Grade and First Grade were both up against Premier League Club Cringilla Lions.
Youth Grade started slowly and allowed Cringilla to jump to a 4 - 0 lead by half time. The second half saw a much improved performance grabbing back a goal before finally going down 1 - 5.

First Grade put in a great effort to hold Cringilla to 0 - 0 at half time. In the second half Cringilla opened the scoring, but the Thunder were able to equalise and looked a good bet to spring an upset. Unfortunately a late goal to Cringilla decided the match in their favour, 1 - 2. For match photos click here.
This in pre-season matches the Thunder will be playing in the Fraternity Cup, formerly the Corrimal Leagues Club Knock-Out, and the Youth Cup. Click on the links below for match details
