Congratulations to Thirroul junior Maniso Micheal on her selection for the Egypt women's team to contest the 2016 Africa Cup of Nations, beginning this weekend.

Maniso, who lives at Austinmer, played Mini Roos and Graded Juniors for Thirroul JFC before going on to play at representative level. She currently plays for Bankstown City FC in the NSW WNPL 2 competition.

The 25-year-old qualifies to play for Egypt through her father Kamel and was chosen in the squad for the Cup of Nations after attending trials in August.

β€œIt's great to represent the country on his behalf and that side of the family,” she told Mitch Cohen in the Illawarra Mercury. "It's always been a dream of mine so I'm really grateful to get the opportunity.”

Egypt's first match is against host nation Cameroon on Saturday, November 19 and they have also drawn to play Zimbabwe on November 22 and South Africa on November 25.
